6 Must have tools for an Windows User
In this world, in every 100 desktops, more than 90 has got Windows(any version) installed. Check Wikipedia link here or the real source here.
That means either you've been using windows for a long time or at least worked on it sometime in past. Out of hundreds of applications you've used so far, I'm gonna list only 6 which will surely benefit you and and solve many of your problems.
If you find this long text boring skip to the bottom for summary.
1. 7 Zip
It is an open source and free file archiving software. It is a perfect replacement for WinZip or WinRar for any practical purpose. It supports all most popular archiving formats like 7z, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP and unlike WinZip or WinRar won't ask for a license key.
It natively supports 7Z compression which is much effective(read smaller archived file size) than ZIP format in many occasions. Best thing, it is also available for Linux and Mac.
2. K-lite codec pack
It is a code pack for Windows that contains codecs to varieties of videos and audios. Windows media player, default player in Windows can utilize these codecs and can play almost all audio and video file and so does many other players for Windows. It comes bundled with media player classic, a player for videos and audios.
But, why should you use this when you have VLC? Personally, I find VLC a bit bulky and slow. And, other media players installed can't use vlc codecs. Those codecs are specific to VLC only. New version is released very frequently(doesn't mean you need to update every time) compared to VLC. When playing videos, you can also manually change aspect ratio as you like (VLC provides only pre-defined aspect ratios).
When you're downloading, go for the mega variant. It contains all codecs. You'll never complain again.
